Drogheda Classical Music


Drogheda Classical Music hosts a concert series every year from September to March. It takes place in the small town of Drogheda, County Louth in Ireland and features a lineup of internationally renowned artists. The series needed a new brand identity and website design to showcase their fantastic concerts, engage with current audiences and reach new classical music fans further afield. 

We began the project with some thorough research, getting to know the history of the series and analysing it’s current market position. In result, we defined a brand strategy that would celebrate the excellence of the artists involved and convey the accessible of the series. This strategy firmly positioned the concert series as a world-class classical music event in Ireland.

Our visual inspiration for the brand identity stemmed from the heart of Drogheda, including the venue, the landscape and the musical pulse that runs throughout the series. These three factors are represented in the new logo, which outlines the shape of St Peter’s Church of Ireland with three different coloured lines in a pulse-like pattern. This treatment translates to the wider brand design, applying the bight colour palette to bold typography and angled blocks of colour with photography.

We began creating the website with detailed wireframes, exploring user journeys, considering content hierarchy and writing the copy for the entire site. The website works responsively across devices and focuses on celebrating the artists involved in the series.

The new Drogheda Classical Music design is vibrant and exciting, bringing the concert series to life across all online platforms and in print. The design brings the featured artists to the forefront of the series, while communicating a friendly and welcoming impression. Our designs have also enabled the series to source new sponsorship opportunities, whilst building audience numbers and followers. The 17/18 concert series has already seen a positive increase in audience numbers, selling out the Christmas concert and benefiting from a larger social reach.
