Sharon Carty, Mezzo-Soprano
Renowned Mezzo-Soprano, Sharon Carty, is highly respected in the fields of baroque and contemporary opera. We worked with Sharon on two very different opera concept photoshoot briefs. Our aim was to create a portfolio of imagery to convey her artistry and upcoming operatic roles for promotional items.

Portrait photography
Opera concept photoshoot
We photographed Sharon in a trouser role character, working alongside makeup artist Tee Elliott. This imagery was used in the main poster image, to promote her upcoming performance in Opera Theatre Company’s Ariodante. In addition, we provided a selection of secondary photographs to reinforce the narrative of the opera. These shots were used across marketing materials, social media and press interviews.
The second brief was to capture and present a national concert tour with Sharon’s baroque ensemble. The tour was entitled “Witches, Bitches and Britches – Baroque Heroes, Heroines and Villains”. With Sharon’s extensive knowledge in the area, she had very clear objectives that she wanted to achieve from our concept shoot.

SHARON CARTY
MEZZO-SOPRANO
The biggest challenge was the multifaceted aspects of the characters being portrayed. All characters had completely different visual executions, which were seamlessly managed and created with hair and makeup artist Silke Dreher. We achieved four very contrasting characters and provided a selection of fresh diverse imagery to be used throughout the media campaign.
