John Finucane, Clarinettist
John Finucane, an accomplished classical musician, approached us needing new portrait shots and a complete website design refresh. We were briefed to transform his online presence into an engaging and functional site that would work responsively across all devices. John wanted a platform to showcase his latest recordings, list upcoming performances, and present his biography and repertoire.
Our research and discussions with John lead to a brand positioning that would celebrate his passion for the clarinet. We wanted the design to reflect the instruments slick and elegant shape, it’s smooth and subtle curves, and the warm tones that glide over the orchestra.

We explored a logo icon using John’s initials, finding harmony and symmetry between the J and F. With this balance between the characters we could start to introduce elements and recognisable musical symbols. We found that by simplifying both characters and accentuating the lower arc of the J and upper of the F with a solid circle, there was a clear visual resemblance to musical notes.
The logo icon is used subtly throughout the site, as a divider of text, title underscore and image overlay. We choose a tasteful colour palette that reflected colours found in John’s portrait photography, which features throughout the site.

We created a modern, user-friendly and audience focussed website design, with fresh new portrait photography and a bespoke logo design. John’s portrait photography captures his charisma and sense of style, which is embraced in the overall design. The site visually showcases John as an artist and gives him an effective platform to announce upcoming concerts and promote his latest album recordings.
